Molly's astrology for February 2007
As above, so below. Astrologers see the solar system as a macrocosm that reflects the microcosm of life here on earth back to us. Astrologers read the signs and signals in the heavens to get an idea of what’s coming. We can relate these cosmic guideposts to an individual’s birth chart, gleaning insight and guidance. Astrologers also read the patterns in the sky itself, for an idea of the energies that affect us all. Sometimes this energy is easygoing, and other times it’s tense and full of challenge. It’s something like a weather forecast of times to come.
The big picture: Saturn opposite Neptune
February’s main event is the second pass of Saturn opposite Neptune. Do you remember campaign season last Fall, before the mid-term elections, all the dirty secrets that came to light? It looks like there’s more scandal and intrigue in store for us between now and June. The current “retrograde” pass of the Saturn-Neptune opposition is the second of three passes, and the most internally trying of the three. During this time, we absorb on a deeper level, whatever we took on in the first pass. The rules of the game are more fluid than usual this month. Plumbing problems, drowning, poisoning, and allergic reactions are all typical of a stressed out Neptune.

The Saturn-Neptune opposition has been particularly interesting to watch in the political arena. During the first pass in the Fall, some shocking secrets (Neptune) came to light, demanding that folks stand accountable and face the music (Saturn). George Allen, senator from Virginia (my state), blurted out some racist nonsense that showed his true colors, and it cost him his seat in the Senate. Other scandals involving a pedophile congressman and a homophobic but closeted preacher brought hidden issues to light, and showed us that a facade of intolerance often belies deep insecurity, and we can’t always take people at face value. Real life (Saturn) at that time, played out almost like a movie (Neptune). And the same energy is in force this month.
You can use this energy to your advantage if you consciously work with it, honoring both the practical (Saturn) and the unexplainable (Neptune). Face the truth in your life. You might be able to keep secrets from other people, but don’t keep them from yourself. Take responsibility for making your dreams a reality, and refuse to indulge in a “victim” mentality that may mask a desire to escape responsibility. Instead, be proactive. Do something tangible that feeds, rather than drains, your soul. It could be a new hobby, new schedule, or simply a solid commitment (Saturn) to your spiritual well-being (Neptune).
February 1-3
As the Moon waxes to Full on Thursday, the energy is upbeat and open as the Sun sextiles Jupiter and Mars sextiles Uranus. It’s a good day for auto repairs and maintenance, and anything having to do with technology. Experiment with new ideas.
This is the best week to take care of your computer, your website, and car repairs before Mercury retrograde begins on the 13th.

As we move through this week, I hope those of us in the northern hemisphere, even though for many of us it’s still cold as a well digger’s behind, will take time to celebrate the return of the light. Happy Imbolc, Candlemas, and Groundhog Day. Soon we’ll be celebrating the spring equinox!
February 4-10
The relationship vibe visits a strange and unsettled place as Venus conjoins Uranus and squares Jupiter on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing back some of the squirrelly energy we experienced in mid-January. Things may be on-again, off-again, and it’s easy to spend too much money, as Jupiter knows no bounds.
Watch the political drama this week. It should be good. The Aquarius Sun swings by Neptune on Thursday morning, infusing Wednesday and Thursday with a spacey, drifty, otherworldly vibe that is excellent for artistic, imaginative, or creative ventures, but difficult for concrete tasks and problem solving. We’re in a less realistic frame of mind until Friday and Saturday, when the Sun connects more strongly with Saturn. That’s when we get the piece of the puzzle that either fires the flaming arrow of reason that bursts your bubble for good, or brings you the practical piece you need in order to get your plan rolling.
February 11-15

Valentine’s Day is on February 14, but if it’s hot, sweaty romance you’re after, start your celebration early. Lovey-dovey Venus in swoony, romantic Pisces will dance the tango with sexy Mars on Monday and Tuesday. There will still be some sparks flying on Wednesday evening as the Capricorn Moon cozies up to both Venus and Mars. Whether you’re coupled or not, it’s a great time to be around people.
Mercury Retrograde begins Tuesday night and lasts through the first week of March. Confusion, equipment problems, scheduling problems, miscommunication, glitches, snafus and inaccuracies are more common during Mercury retrograde. Be sure to leave some extra time in your schedule to allow for delays. Double-check the details, and get a second opinion in medical matters. As Mercury travels over territory previously visited, it’s a great time for us to review projects from the past.
February 16-19
Gentle persuasion can work wonders, as the New Moon sextiles Pluto. Pay attention to subtleties, and trust your instincts. Something very powerful may issue from this New Moon with its connection to Pluto, a planet associated with hidden strengths that lie deep beneath the surface. You can begin the process of drawing some part of you from deep within by setting intentions and “planting seeds” for the future. In her book, New Moon Astrology, Jan Spiller suggests that you honor the Aquarius New Moon by making wishes concerning friendship, involvement with others, platonic love, being able to see the “big picture,” brilliance and visionary ability, among other things. It’s an excellent book, and a lovely way to use astrology to bring about positive change in your life.

Sunday and Monday are touchy, as Venus squares Pluto. Transits to Pluto can bring out whatever is lurking below the surface, in the “underworld” of our psyches. Be careful in sketchy neighborhoods or around scary people. It’s a strange time for intimate relationships, as it’s more uncomfortable than usual, having someone poke around our soft places. Yet we feel strongly compelled to do so… Still, it’s probably best to save the heart-to-heart talk for another time.
February 20-28
This is one of those really weird weeks. The Saturn-Neptune opposition has been building all month, and reaches peak intensity now. Reality is more fluid, the rules are subject to change, and the energy just feels weird. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one feeling out of sorts. This is a powerful aspect that “pops” when it’s exact on the morning of the 28th. After the “pop,” the energy dissipates fairly quickly. It will gather once again in June, but in the meantime it won’t be as intense as it is this week.
You may feel that things have shifted a bit when you wake up on Wednesday. Venus, symbolizing connections, relationships, and values, has moved from easygoing, romantic Pisces into impulsive, “go-getter” Aries. Pisces is a sign that has a yin, or “feminine” polarity that is juicy, nourishing, supportive. Aries is a yang or “masculine” sign of action and pushing forward. Two more planets will move from the yin to the yang polarity by Tuesday morning, as Mars moves from practical, grounded Capricorn to logical, theoretical Aquarius, and Mercury backs into Aquarius from Pisces. Mercury then sextiles Pluto on Tuesday. This is a great problem-solving aspect. Whatever it is, talk it out. With Mercury being retrograde, you might find the answer in an old file drawer. Mercury retrograde is great for reviewing the past and revising your plans.
Mark your calendar!
The best days for you high priority plans are February 2, 3, 9, 12, 13, 20.
Keep things simple February 7, 8, 10, 19, 27, 28.

Molly, I read that certain things in a natal chart show psychic ability, but I don’t remember what these things are. What are they? Thank you. Chris
I thought it was funny… The picture of the man next to the words “some shocking secrets (Neptune) came to light,” was too dark to see on my computer… but when I printed it… there he was.
That’s Chris Cooper as Col. Frank Fitts, USMC in American Beauty, one of my favorite movies ever.
I had a serious Neptune moment when I read back over my forecast this morning and realized I had mentioned that Florida congressman, Foley. I said he was a closeted homosexual, when that's not what's scandalous and wrong to me. Nothing wrong with being a 'mo, nothing wrong with being in the closet if that's his thing. It is that he's a pedophile. Plenty wrong with that. I was just mortified when I reread that and realized how it came out. And I'm really sorry if it was hurtful to anyone. That typo does not reflect my attitude at all.
Another good reason not to put off writing my forecast to the last minute....
Chris,
Psychic ability is one of those strange questions that I don’t really know how to answer.
As I see it, everyone has psychic ability, we just have it in different amounts. Kind of like some people are really good at math, and others struggle through algebra. But most folks can add 2 and 2. And with practice and dedication, most students can learn algebra, no matter how much or how little natural talent they were born with.
So, if psychic ability is innate, what makes a psychic "genius?" Psychic planets are the Moon and Neptune. Their condition in your chart shows how sensitive and receptive you are. The psychic signs are the water signs. The psychic houses are the 4th, 8th, 12th, and I think the 6th too. Planets in these houses or strongly aspected to Neptune or Pluto may show psychic sensitivity.
Hi Molly-
Looks like I’ll be having an important job interview during Mercury Rx period. What’s worse is that salary negotiation will be a big part of this. This is already a sticky issue with this potential employer who seems to want something good at a bargain price. Any suggestions on how to make the best of the worst?
Thanks Molly. Your feedback is most valued and appreciated.
Beth
Hi Beth—
Unless you can move the date, don’t worry about it. Mercury retrograde’s theme is REVIEW. So read up on the art of negotiating, and go in with some good tips under your belt. You will be glad you spent the time. It will be good practice, even if this isn’t the job you wind up with. Good luck!
Molly,
Will U Bee My Valentine?
Pleeease bees!

p.s. it’s snowing! Aaaaaah! (p.s. my sister is 30 today)
Hi Molly,
I am jumping the gun a little here…. but I have been thinking of making a trip on 2 March to meet someone whom I had a connection with when I was overseas. He came in the beginning of the month and was planning to come by again this month but trip got cancelled due to work (must be mercury retrograde)... But I am a little worried if I should go as it is mercury retrograde now AND there is a Lunar Eclipse on 3 March… It falls in my 2nd house but squares my neptune in Sag-5th house (at almost the same degree).. Am I being paranoid or should I just go ahead with the trip? Hope to hear from you…..
Phy
Today, I have been thinking a lot about using astrology in planning my activities. I noticed that on March 3 there is a total lunar eclipse in the late evening. It just so happens that I will have children over that day to play games. I’m wondering what kind of an effect the eclipse will have on people in general, but you don’t have your March forecast out yet. I’m anxious for you to post it. Thank you.
