Molly's Astrology for February 2008

February 2008 horoscope for all signs

Mercury is retrograde in Aquarius until the 18th. Retrograde Mercury signals communication and connectivity problems, mistakes, malfunctions, mix-ups and misinformation, schedule changes, and heavy traffic. Mercury in Aquarius is rebellious, defiant, and eccentric. It highlights interest in astrology, science, technology, and new ideas. When Mercury conjoins Neptune on the 1st and 2nd, it’s time to explore the spiritual and artistic dimensions of these topics. It’s also a good time to review your plans, writings, schematics for ideas and errors. New ideas spring from old ideas when Mercury is retrograde.

(How about that amazing underdog Super Bowl victory? Mercury retrograde favors the underdog in contests. Keep that tidbit in mind in the future!)

Mars is now direct (having been retrograde since early November) and retracing his steps through the late degrees of Gemini. You may be finishing up written projects, communications, or organizing something with many “moving parts” that you have been working on for a while as Mars moves through the “shadow” of the retrograde from now through early April. Mars in Gemini is intelligent and quick witted, but often tries to handle too many things at once, dissipating the energy rather than focusing in on something specific.

A pair of Eclipses this month brings a feeling of powerful significance to ideas and events. Eclipses often “blow out” our energies, so be mindful. If your body asks you to take a rest, honor its request.

This month’s Eclipses are part of the 10 North series, or “family” of Eclipses. In this series, “there is a very strong emphasis on communication and, at the same time, frustrating or inhibiting events may come into [our lives] via news, paperwork, or a young person. The person may feel tired and drained, and this is therefore a good time to take things quietly and work through the difficulties one at a time.” (Bernadette Brady)

Because so many planets are in the early degrees of their signs this month, the “Moon is void of course (Moon Void of Course):/astrology-tutorials/moon-void-of-course for unusually long periods of time. See the Universal Lunar Calendar for the specifics.

February 1-10

February 1 and 2 are spacey, vibey and spiritual, as logical Mercury, the planet of our minds and thinking, meets artsy, creative, spiritual, and decidedly illogical Neptune in the skies. Sunday and Monday are clear and good for work or play until the Moon goes v/c in Capricorn at 1:20 eastern on Monday afternoon. Stick to routine Monday evening and Tuesday, until the Moon enters Aquarius, ending the v/c period at 2:10 on Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday is looking upbeat, despite the rather dour Saros interpretation for this Solar Eclipse (above). Venus— relationships, meets up with Uranus— change and new ideas, in a sextile— a marker of opportunity. It’s a great day to meet new people, make contacts, and be creative.

The Moon is v/c again for most of the day on Thursday. (10:50 a.m. – 8:46 p.m. eastern). This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do anything, but it is best to stick to routine. Moon void of course is kind of like the train being off the rails. It’s easier for things to take unexpected, unintended twists and turns. I have read that this is a good time to “decide” to do something you don’t really want to do but feel you can’t say no to. That’s kind of underhanded, isn’t it. Not my style, but I’m an Aries and we tend to be pretty direct. I offer up the info; do with it as you please!

Friday and Saturday are clear and especially good for spiritual and artistic endeavors, as the Moon moves through dreamy Pisces, and the Sun moves closer to Pisces’ ruling planet, Neptune. Double spacey. It’s a good time to dream, cleanse, purify, and go with the flow. Sunday, the Moon moves into impulsive Aries, and the Sun is still conjunct Neptune. The muse may move you, or a phony could deceive you. It’s a toss up with Neptune, could go either way. Do you believe in it because it makes sense, or because you want to believe in it? That’s the litmus test with Neptune. If you’re honest with yourself, chances are better that you’ll bet on the right horse.

February 11-17

Feeling a little more awake now? The Sun has passed spacey Neptune and is now moving into a trine with active Mars in chatty Gemini, exact on Thursday morning. You’ll likely see a flurry of activity as these two social signs play off of one another. The phones will be buzzing, your inbox will be full, and some folks will have great new ideas. It’s a good time for writers, bookkeepers, athletes, and anyone in communications, technology, science, broadcasting, etc. With Mercury being retrograde, ideas that appear now may need to cook a little while before you can do anything with them. Or they may be connected to the past in some way— a connection with an old friend, a forgotten idea from the old files, an old poem or written work you left incomplete a while back. It’s a great week to drag that old stuff out and complete unfinished business.

Friday and Saturday, Mercury retrograde is about to end. Can you feel the energy beginning to pick up? Venus is finishing up her journey through Capricorn and preparing to move into Aquarius on Sunday. You may be moving a relationship or a project out of a nose-to-the-grindstone working phase, and into a more detached, group-oriented or teamwork phase.

On the 17th, the love vibe (Venus) abandons some of the controlled and structured energy of Capricorn as she enters Aquarius, the sign of friendship, groups, and networking. The rest of February has good energy for mingling and schmoozing. It’s favorable to the air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius); not so good for jealous, or needy types, as the Venus in Aquarius energy doesn’t support that level of emotional intensity. We all naturally want a little more room to breathe.

Feb 18-23

Mercury direct— finally! The planet of communications is moving forward again. This is especially important if you have planets around 8-10° of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in your birthchart, as these degrees will be powerfully activated by Mercury— in this case, Mercury turning direct signals a turning point in the situation symbolized by the planet being activated. No matter what’s in your chart, Mercury direct brings solutions, especially with the Pisces Sun being sextile healing, transforming Pluto on Tuesday. This powerful positive energy brings in helpful people and creative new answers. And this is a new energy for Pisces— it’s the first time in many years that a planet in Pisces has made a harmonious contact with Pluto. When Pluto was in Sagittarius, a combination with a planet in Pisces was excessively idealistic and scattered. Today, for the first time in many years, the focused energy of Pluto in Capricorn brings structure and form to the inspired ideals of Pisces. Boo-yah! Times, they are a-changing.

The Lunar Eclipse Wednesday evening in Virgo highlights matters of health, time management, and constructive vs. destructive criticism. Virgo worries so much that its energy can become blocked up, constricted (especially with Saturn also in Virgo right now). So take some time on Wednesday to tune into those worried parts, those parts that feel like they need some love and encouragement to loosen up and connect to the Universal flow (Pisces). Full Moons encourage us to balance our energies, and a Lunar Eclipse is an especially powerful Full Moon.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the Sun connects with Saturn. So we feel contraction in our lives— we feel more tuned in with our limitations and burdens. It’s not the best time to ask your boss for a raise, or ask your neighbor for a favor, for example. Don’t expect things to be easy, but do expect a payoff in the future for hard work you do now. Keep your nose to the grindstone, and you’ll get a lot done. Use a patient and understanding attitude with others, and you’ll earn trust and points in your emotional bank account.

February 24-29

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are clear and easygoing. The Moon is in intense Scorpio, but Mercury, our thinking, meets up with loving, beautiful Venus, greasing the wheels and opening the door to understanding and agreement. Monday afternoon and Tuesday are clear and good for important meetings and events.

Stick to routine on Wednesday as the Moon turns v/c shortly before 10 a.m. and remains v/c for the rest of the day.

Thursday and Friday feature an upbeat Moon in Sagittarius, and nothing to spoil your plans. It looks pretty open, pretty nice. Mars is moving through the last degrees of Gemini, about to move into Cancer. He’s still retracing his steps from last month’s retrograde, so we may find ourselves acting on decisions that were made a couple of months ago, perhaps even way back in the fall months.

Mark your calendar!

The best days for your top priority plans are February 6, 7, 14, 19, 20, 25, 26.
Take it easy on February 2, 23.

  12. Hi Molly! Does full lunar eclipse effect has something to do with love relationship? My 5 months relationship with my boyfriend end that night ( 20th Feb ), but it hurts me very deeply until now. And is it true if a relationship which end during full moon eclipse is totally over and no turning back?
