Molly's Astrology for November 2006

Astrological forecast for November 2006

As above, so below. That’s the idea behind astrological forecasting. The solar system is a macrocosm that reflects the microcosm of life here on earth back to us. Astrologers read the signs and signals in the heavens to get an idea of what’s coming. We can relate these cosmic guideposts to an individual’s birth chart, gleaning insight and guidance. Astrologers also read the sky itself, for an idea of the energies that affect us all, which are sometimes easygoing, and other times are very tense. It’s something like a weather forecast of times to come.

November 1-3

November opens with a waxing Moon, nearly full, and a retrograde Mercury square gloomy Saturn. This signals pessimistic thinking, obstacles to communication, a need to review your plans and revise your work. Hold off on signing contracts, at least until the afternoon hours, or if possible, later in the week. Afternoon and evening hours on November 1 are better for important decisions and conversations. Mercury retrograde still shows a need for more consideration, but at least with Venus trine Uranus, people are in a more accommodating mood.

The atmosphere of excitement continues through early Friday morning as the Sun trines Uranus. Original thinking, inventions and creative solutions abound.

scorpio

There’s a lot of talk going around the astrology blogosphere about five planets in Scorpio. The rumors are true! Scorpio is an intense, sexual, sometimes obsessive sign that drives beneath the surface, to the core of things. It makes us see what is hidden and face what we have repressed. It’s the ultimate destructive energy, and the ultimate healing energy. Scorpio has to do with this season we are in in the northern hemisphere, the time when life processes in nature begin to go underground with the arrival of freezing temperatures, and the seeds of the next cycle appear.

So recognize that inherent in every ending is a new beginning, and the “force” is with all of us. It’s up to each of us individually to direct it in a positive and constructive, rather than a negative and destructive, way. Scorpio is not a good sign, not a bad sign. It’s what you do with it that makes it good or bad. Scorpio tends to bring you face to face with repressed “stuff;” that’s what makes it difficult. There’s a temptation to play the hapless victim, but it’s a trap, only a temporary escape. Not taking responsibility for your stuff ultimately creates more problems for you and those around you. With this in mind, you can see how Scorpio’s awareness of the darker parts of life can be a gift. And when you do that, you are using the energy positively, even if it’s difficult.

November 4-7

Money shirt

Buckle your seat belts. The Full Moon brings changes and culminations, and a time of high emotions. With this particular full Moon in Taurus, money is an issue. Markets will probably be quite volatile owing to this and of course the hot mid-term elections coming up, and all the hopes and fears attached to this event. With the Sun and Moon in a tangle with Venus, Mercury and Neptune, this isn’t the time to try to talk out a complicated situation. Chances are good it will just bog things down even further. It’s a better time to take a break. Step back from the situation and reflect on your life and times.

Amidst the confusion and emotion of the Full Moon on Sunday, followed by a confusing retrograde Mercury square Neptune aspect Tuesday night, there’s a ray of truth and hope shining through the fog— Mars trine Uranus. Dare I say that an election under this aspect, besmirched as it may be by fraud, botched counts, or misleading information (Mercury square Neptune), may nevertheless bring a favorable outcome for advancing (Mars) a progressive agenda (Uranus), one favorable to science (Uranus). The stem cell research issue may swing this one. We shall see.

November 9-12

The fog clears somewhat after the Sun squares Neptune at 10:00 ET Thursday morning. Tempers may flare, and you may want to rush to a decision on Thursday and Friday as Mercury closes in on impulsive Mars. With Mercury still retrograde, don’t rush to decision or jump to any conclusions, as you probably don’t have all the necessary information. Instead, take the time to review or rewrite, incorporating new (Mars) ideas (Mercury) to spark new life into incomplete, abandoned or overlooked projects.

Venus squares Saturn on November 12, and a gloomy, pessimistic mood permeates attitudes around money and relationships. Your romantic expectations for the weekend may meet with disappointment or a pessimistic outlook. A conservative vibe around money is in the air.

November 13-15

Mercury trine Uranus on Monday afternoon brings breakthroughs, surprises, and sudden flashes of insight. It’s a good time to study science or astrology, to take care of technology issues and find original solutions to tricky problems. The nicest thing is, since Mercury retrograde is about to end, Mercury will stick around this spot until November 22, holding this trine with truth-loving Uranus.

Meanwhile, Venus meets Jupiter in the last degree of Scorpio. Venus-Jupiter contacts signal good luck in relationships and money, a good time to expand your connections and meet a new healer, or look within for an answer to a problem that appeared over the weekend when Venus squared Saturn. Venus Jupiter is also signals excess, so leave the credit cards at home if you’re an impulse buyer. The last degree of the sign is indicative of closing a chapter and preparing for a new start. Leave your options open, as Venus and Jupiter will both enter freedom-loving Sagittarius over the next few days.

November 16-17

Venus enters Sagittarius Friday morning, the first of three planets to do so by the end of November. This describes a “lightening-up” phase, where we’re moving from the inward-looking depths of Scorpio, to the adventurous explorations of Sagittarius. But there’s still some static in the heavens during these few days, as the Sun squares gloomy Saturn, and Mars squares Neptune in the heavens. These are signs of pessimism, a cautious outlook, lowered vitality, and susceptibility to deception, unscrupulous people, or that bug that’s going around. Stay away from dangerous people and places, and don’t make any impulsive decisions during these two days. Mercury retrograde ends Friday evening, and better days are just around the corner.

November 18-22

The New Moon on Monday afternoon is in intense, broody Scorpio, but falls right next to lucky, optimistic Jupiter. Here we have an interesting combination of philosophical optimism and deep meaningful soul-searching, or resistance to change combined with know-it-all pompousness. Both manifestations issue from this mixture of the deep and mystical Scorpio influence with the larger-than-life energy of Jupiter. Enjoy the energy, but exercise restraint, don’t eat or buy everything you see.

Tuesday and Wednesday the optimistic, expansive vibe continues. It’s a good time to begin or promote something you want to grow and take off. On Wednesday, the Sun follows Venus out of obsessive Scorpio into adventurous Sag, and Mercury once again lines up in harmony with brilliant, inventive Uranus, greasing the wheels for good ideas to constellate into working solutions to pressing problems. Many of you will be glad to know that this also looks good for travel plans. We like to see Mercury happy during heavy travel times.

November 23-25

centaurs

Homecoming! A third planet enters Sagittarius on Thanksgiving evening, and this one is a biggie. Jupiter only changes signs once a year, and Sagittarius happens to be his home sign. This will bring the buoyant, optimistic energy of Jupiter out full tilt over the next year. I have made some notes to help you understand what this means, and what to expect.

With Mercury and Mars still in Scorpio, the intense emotional energy is still present now, but in a lesser degree, and tempered with the more optimistic and free-spirited energy of the three other planets now in Sagittarius.

Thursday and Friday look mellow, with the serious and responsible Capricorn Moon making friendly connections with other planets. But be ready for surprises as Venus squares unpredictable Uranus on Saturday, nervous tension permeates our interactions with others, and something appears to come “out of the blue.” The truth emerges, and it may or may not be pretty.

November 26-28

road rage

Cranky and muddled. This is definitely not the time to try to convince someone of something, settle and issue, or ask a favor. Mercury squares befuddled Neptune, and angry Mars squares hard-ass Saturn. Confusion plus frustration equals trouble. Be careful in traffic and with weapons, sharp objects, and sharp words. Take things one at a time— it’s easy at this time to do too many things at once, spreading ourselves too thin, so that we may risk accident or injury. Those with injuries or weakness in the knees or other joints (Saturn) should be especially careful.

November 29-30

Monet painting

Romantic. Venus sextile Neptune is good for relationship building, personal and professional. Just try not to mix the two, as boundaries tend to be more fluid under Neptune. Know which ones ought not be traversed— keep it clean. These are good days to work on art projects or pick colors, as we are feeling a bit hazy and out of focus, as if life were taking place inside an impressionist painting. It’s a little harder to be realistic. Enjoy and make the most of it, but don’t get carried away!

Mark your calendar!

The best days for you high priority plans are November 13-15, 21-24, 30.
Keep things simple November 5-7, 10-12, 16, 27, 28.

1 Thanks to Uncle Hannah for the adorable Scorpio in the bathtub image!

  1. If November was an amusement park, the month would be like a roller coaster ride through the house of mirrors. Many thanks again for your brilliant insights into the days ahead.

  2. thank you for posting this early. my mom likes me to print and mail it to her, as she cannot get it online!
thanks alot for your hard work, Molly!

  3. Molly-

Is it true that readings done during mercury retrograde can be inaccurate so it’s better to wait till it’s over?

    — Beth    30 October 2006    #
  4. Hi Beth—

I don’t think an astrological reading would be any less accurate, as long as you double check the birth information to make sure it's accurate. In fact, Mercury rx is very good for information gathering. You can't assume everything you hear will be wrong. That would be kind of a paranoid way to approach Mercury retrograde. The thing is to gather information so that you can make a completely informed decision when Mercury retrograde ends. Mercury retrograde is also a good time for introspection.

What I do notice about readings is that it takes me longer to prepare during Mercury rx. And in the case of recordings, sometimes I do it twice before I'm happy with it.

  5. Molly, I enjoy your forecast. I am libra born on October 23rd . Hoe does the merury retrograde effect and how does it look for business exapnsions? Chandrika

    — chandrika    30 October 2006    #
  6. this is perhaps more an astronomy question, than astroligical…heard recently that Halloween is actually the Druid New Year…also that the Pleadian constellation is directly overhead, and is somehow connected with this celebration, and marks this event.
Then I heard that the real date is November 6, as our calenders are off that amount. Any info on this??? Especially the Pleadian connection.
    Thanks…...your work is great!

    — bill    31 October 2006    #
  7. Hi Chandrika— Right about now looks kind of sketchy for business. But closer to the end of Mercury retrograde, things even out a bit. I’d have to have your chart, and the chart of your business if it’s incorporated, to really tell you anything specific. Your birthdate by itself, with no year, doesn’t tell me anything. Get in touch with me via e-mail if you’d like to talk about setting up a personal consultation.

Bill, it’s true the constellations have shifted almost one sign away from the tropical Zodiac signs of the same name. The Pleiades are now at the end of Taurus if memory serves. So they won’t be in opposition to the Sun until the Sun is in the last degrees of Scorpio, which will be around two weeks from now. You should double check that with an astronomer, but I think it’s true.

  8. Reading the interpretation of Jupiter in Sag for last few decades, and the significant life changes that occurred during each one for me: can I expect something significant again? 59-60 moved to new town, started school; 71-72 hi school grad, rebelled, fell for current mate, left home; 82-84 pregnancy and birth of son; 94-96 grad school; 06-07? (birth 10/27/53; 4:09am)

    — Molly E.    1 November 2006    #
  9. Hi Molly— yes, it sounds like Jupiter in Sag represents pretty significant times of expansion for you.

  10. I am kind of freaked out by your comments for the November 27 time frame. I am scheduled for stomach surgery (a gastric sleeve) on that day. Is it REALLY bad? I waited till after Mercury Retrograde but want to be cautious as well…thank you!

    — Gail    2 November 2006    #
  11. Hi Gail. November 27 is not a good day to have surgery. Mercury is direct, but it is involved in a nasty tangle.

I have posted Eileen Naumann's rules for choosing surgery dates if you are interested.

  13. Hi Molly,

You warned me about November a few months back (7/28/66), but I thought I suffered enough. No mercy! I started working for a charity and change my life for the greater good. These people aren’t much different than other businesses, and a whole lot more ego than I could ever imagine. They can’t stand the taste of their own pudding that’s for sure. I’m trying hard to hold on for Nov. 21st, which is suppose to be the best day of the year for me, but it seems like all the cards are stacked up against me. I’ll travel to New Orleans again to help my Mother for Thanksgiving. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll make it through these hard times, especially when I’m only one person trying to help masses. Any future silver lining coming soon with this storm of chaos? Will anyone stand up for me?

Thanks in advance for your awesome work.
    Shar

  14. good call on the elections, and the stem cell research issue. :)

    — k    8 November 2006    #
  15. Thanks, K!

Sharon, your questions are too big to answer here in my little comment box. If you’d like to work with me one-on-one, I’ll be glad to take a good hard look at your chart and help you understand how to make the most of what’s there. Blessings and good luck.

  16. Hi Molly,

This question maybe useful for many people preparing their natal charts. I am trying to delve more deeply in astrology and have prepared my birth chart using my date, time and year of birth. I placed by signs couterclockwise starting with my ascendant in the 9 o’clock position (Leo, my ascendant in my 1st house) then worked couterclockwise with Virgo, Libra, Scorpio Sagittarius etc. until I reached Cancer in the 12th house Did I do this correctly? My question is, is my next step to place the Planets in the specific houses. It looks as though I have 4 houses in Taurus (my 10th house)- Mercury, Mars, Juiter and my sun sign sun. My birthdate is 5/13/1964 in NYC with a birth time of 11:18 am. The second part of my question is – Even though Aries is the dominant sign of the 1st house of money and possessions, it looks as though Virgo falls in that house for me with the Planets of Uranus and PLuto. How should I interpret these planets? I hope I posed my questions correctly. I love your site.

    A faithful reader.

  19. My other half is coming to visit on Nov 24…will this be a good day to travel? He tried to come on Nov 3rd but he came, delayed flight, and I didnt get his calls (3) for 3 hours on the hour…I normally answer my phone but i didnt with no desire to… was it because of Mercury in retrograde?

  20. Happy Almost December.

November was OK, but I hope December will be better. Hehe. I shouldn’t worry about it either way, though.

    Happy Holidays, folks…

    XOXO...
