Libra’s strengths and weaknesses

This is the glyph for Libra. It represents an old-fashioned scale, in which 2 sides had to balance to determine the weight of something.

Libra is the cardinal air sign. Cardinal signs are the most direct. Air signs are the most communicative. Planets in Libra indicate a need for one-on-one communication. Librans have a talent for diplomacy and seeing things from other people’s point of view. They have an innate sense of fairness.

Because Librans can see things from multiple perspectives, they have a hard time making decisions. Both sides look reasonable.. They need a good, impartial friend whom they can talk it out with. Then things will look much clearer.

Venus is the ruler of Libra. Librans appreciate beauty, art, and aesthetics. Where you have Venus in your chart indicates an area where beauty and harmony are very important. Here you have the gifts of grace and charm, and a refined sense of taste.

The other side of Venus is laziness. Sometimes you will find a Libra who is sloppy as the day is long. It’s just two sides of the same coin— love for the finer things in life. For some, it’s broken in sweat pants, beer and a couch; for others, diamonds and gourmet dining.

Librans tend to see themselves through other people. If they are around negative people, they absorb a negative view of themselves. That’s why it is very important for Librans to have good friends whom they can trust.

Balance and harmony are so important to Libra, that he may try to balance a situation by unbalancing himself, rather than directly addressing the imbalance. This is especially harmful in close personal relationships. Libra is afraid that if he says what is on his mind, the other person won’t like him. So instead of saying anything, Libra will say “I don’t mind,” and let the tension build, even when it’s obvious that something is wrong. He can be very passive aggressive.

Learning to directly express needs and wants is key for Libra. He is so focused on the other person and their wants that he forgets that he has a role and responsibility in the relationship. He must also clearly state his boundaries. It’s okay to have peculiar habits and pet peeves. “It really bothers me when you pick your toenails on the couch,” is all he has to say. Then, as if by magic, the other person understands his needs, and the relationship has room to become much healthier.

3. Compatibility is intricate and complex.. you can't judge a relationship solely by Sun sign. You absolutely must take the whole chart into account.
   
   Speaking in a very general way, Taurus and Libra do have Venus in common as their ruling planet, but their natures are very different. Libra is an air sign and tends to be cerebral and into relating in a social/intellectual way, whereas Taurus is sensual and relates in a more physical way. Libra is a cardinal, action oriented sign, and Taurus resists change and takes a lot of time to think things through. So these signs do have the potential to frustrate the hell out of each other.

4. It's very true, even though i'm a Libra, but there's one thing, relationships don't necesarilly have to be decided by the sign, many relationships can actually be made just by pure love even if it doesn't last long, after that they may still find someone else, i'm referring at the fact that i belive in soulmates, so maybe that's who they'll find. And well as for me i'm proud of been a Libra girl, it's fun, i'm artistic and incredibly romantic, and i'm about all that i've read above.

7. I am a libra with a moon in capricorn and mercury in scorpio -- which makes me have a hard time relating to the typical “indecisiveness” of a libra. I tend to strip things down to the bone and make swift decisions on most things. It's usually a matter of “getting things done”. However, I've heard that having this sun/moon aspect is difficult because it's a square. Most people never guess my sun sign correctly. Does anyone else have a similar combination?

    I've been perplexed about my own chart. For one, although my SUN's in LIBRA, my MOON and ASCENDENT are in SCORPIO. When I read the personalities for both, I feel more SCORPIO than I do LIBRA. In fact, when I read the indepth descriptions, I feel more in tune with SCORPIO than LIBRA.

14. Im the Prodigal Libra. I fit every little piece of the sign perfectly. In my chart, all of my planets and such except the moon, which is opposite all the others (in Aries), are grouped in the signs Scorpio, Libra, and Saggitarius. I was supposed to be born a Sag, but I popped out early, and apparently I am the most perfect Libra that could be found.

    Ive just started seeing a Taurus this last month, and its an incredible relationship. The best Ive been in. Its been quite intense though for such a short period of time…How someone said they got married in 3 weeks and it turned out okay…i could see that happening with us. I would say that she fits Taurus pretty well, but not like I fit Libra.

16. Hi Stacey— well, that’s a big change for sure. Hard to say without knowing your Venus aspects, but it does sound awfully fast. You don’t really know the guy, besides years and years of thinking of him as your soulmate.

    Lots of happy stories start out this way, but lots of sad ones do too.. and yummy as new love is, if there’s a hidden dark side to all this, it will likely come out this Fall when Saturn opposes Neptune and Jupiter squares both of them. This involves the fixed signs.. your Mars and his Sun and Moon.

    Your Aries Moon does not like to wait, and your Libra is all excited at the possibility of true love.. who can blame you?! And who’s to say it won’t work?! It very well might. But the fact is you don’t know this guy very well yet. You owe it to yourself to find out who he is. Even if I decided to give it a try, I’d want to have my own space for a while, as I got to know him again, rather than move right in with him.

    “Is he the one” is not a question astrology can answer.

    “Are we compatible” is…. but whether you end up together depends on a lot of things, astrology is just one of them. It takes time to find those things out.

28. Ok… So, I’m trying to figure out if I completely blew it with a certain Libra boy or not… He does have many of the typical Libra traits; romantic, diplomatic, charming, enjoys beauty…

    We never dated officially… but after a night on the town he told me he loved me… I was a bit shocked and didn’t think it was the appropriate time to say such a thing, so I said, “WHAT?!” and he said it again (a bit more hesitant the second time due to my reaction I’m sure…) I then laughed (that’s just the Gemini in me) and covered his mouth and said, “Oh… you don’t want to say that!” He then stated, that…yeah, he probably should not have said that…

    He reallly didn’t talk to me after that… I apologized a month later when I ran into him out and about… but he acted very flippant with me and said, “no problem… life is good…” I tried to express that I didn’t mean to react the way I did… he listened without saying much… he looked me in the eyes for extended periods of time while I was talking, but really didn’t say much. I ended up leaving with my friends and that was about it…

    I ran into him again about a month ago now and he was nice enough… complimented me and such… I was very upbeat and didn’t say a word to him about past things… We chatted just briefly due to circumstances and he said that, “He hasn’t figured out a lot of things yet…” I assume he was eluding to relationships and such, but who knows… He is only 23 so I didn’t take his “I love you” seriously… Could he have been serious?

    Any thoughts…? Does a 23 year old Libra comprehend what it even means to say “I love you” to someone?

    I can't read this guy's mind or speculate on his individual approach to relationships based on his simply being a Libra..

    ...but my hunch is that he was caught up in the moment and/or hoping to get into your pants. Had you two been drinking?

    ..and later, maybe embarassed, maybe no longer interested, maybe a lot of things. I may be wrong, but "I'm figuring things out" etc etc sounds more like a sidestepping an awkward situation line than an "I'm in love with you" line. One thing I can tell you about Libras is they tend to avoid leveling with you if it might hurt your feelings.

30. i am scorp and she is libra – we’ve fallen head over heels in love with each other. I’ve been quite in awe of this. Am I just fooling myself?

    Neither of us are kids anymore.

    Both of us carry lots of baggage, so our affair is very clandestine – as in only I and she knows about it. my baggage can be dropped, but hers has to be more a metamorphasis (from a very controlled environment).

    I’ve seen her courage at work, but for us to evolve beyond our clandestine affair, she will need to make a huge ‘leap of faith’. Can she?

    Sorry, but I cannot make much of a list of planets in signs and houses. It makes it impossible to read aspects. Even if I could, I don't think I would. Why? Because you are trying to control and manipulate another person's behavior! If she's afraid, maybe she has good reason to be. If it's meant to be, she'll work it out without you needing to pry her open. She is who she is-- do you love her as-is, or not? You're never going to get this relationship to a healthy place if you're acting like her father.

    I’ m fascinated having stumbled over this really enjoyable and interesting site, and, of course, I too am interested in a Libra man… We met at a wedding and immediately found we had a lot to talk about and really enjoyed each other’ s company. Then a few months later I accidently found out his date of birth and among other things it turns out my Mars is exactly conjunct his Venus (in Virgo). I am really curious about this fact, for it seems to me kind of awkward that I as the woman represent the Mars principle and he as man the Venus… His Mars isn’ t very triggered by any of my planets…
    Also I am a little worried by the fact that he is a Libra and I a Cancer. But his Sun is conjunct Pluto and his moon is either Scorpio or conjunct Neptune in Sagittarius…

    Venus/Mars in synastry symbolizes sexual chemistry. I don’t think this necessarily makes you the “Mars” person, but you might be the one to initiate sex. Relationships, especially harmonious living together, in my view centers around the Moon. And of course you need Mercury for communication.

45. I wonder why we are sexually compatible, we have venus/mars inconjunct and also venus/mars semisextile. Are there other indicators that might explain this. 47. Thank you for the quick response, do you think inconjunct and semi-sextile between venus/mars is good. Are relationship when good is really hot, but when not all goes well can really not be too good, he seems to stay away from me at times. I think sometimes people don’t appreciate the little things done for them, or to them it is not there way of feeling appreciated, different wavelengths.     I think I would gag a bit if I took a Libra man straight up. I like that my husband has some Scorpio. Maybe it’s my Pisces moon and mars that is attracted to the Scorpio. He has Sun and Mars and Ascendant in Libra and his Moon and Mercury in Scorpio. The longer I live with him the more I see of both. Luckily he’s a good guy.     Librans are famous for avoiding having to deliver bad news. Librans have their own style, and most of the time, a Libra simply is not going to just "spit it out" like an Aries. So I would take his silence as “not interested.” I’m sorry.

57. I’m an Aries female and i like this guy whos a LIBRA obviously. Well i really cant read him at all, like we’ve hung out only 3 times or so but the attraction is like extreme! he always tells me how cute i am, and how im like the most beautiful girl hes ever gone on a date with. All that stuff is nice to hear but someitmes i feel like he doesnt really mean it..maybe im just over-analyzing? but idk. Our first date he tried to kiss me but i didnt let him, and he said that he was glad i didnt and that just made him want me more. Last night was our 3rd date and i sort of gave him a peck on the lips. I thought that was okay. and Everything seemed fine so far. I told him to call me tomorrow and i havnt recieved a call yet..I dont understand. This guy was like obsessed with me before, because we met at the gym and he would be constatly like staring at me but he was way too shy to confront me and he finally did. I was really glad becasue i started to like him. Now i feel like he isnt really inrested in me anymore..but i dont know. Maybe im just thinking too much? Also we really odnt have anything to talk about..he always says hes just nervous and stuff. but can somebody be REALLY that nervous or is this total BS? i mean because me being an Aries im extremley impatient and i want to have an answer like right away..and i hate not knowing whats going on!
