What is Moon v/c?
The Moon moves through all 12 Zodiac signs every 28 days. One sign every 2 1/2 days. The Moon is void once she has finished forming aspects to other planets. The void period ends when the Moon enters a new sign. It can last as little as a few seconds or more than two days.
What happens during Moon v/c?

First, it’s not a terrible thing! So do not moan and gnash your teeth about it. It happens every 2-3 days. If you can read this, then you have survived it thousands of times. It’s not worth moaning about, but it is worth knowing about.
While the Moon is void, our energies dissipate easily, and we tend to feel more spacey and disconnected. Stick to routine tasks. It is not advisable to initiate important conversations, make major changes, decisions, purchases, or announcements while the Moon is v/c.
Void of course = off course. It’s like the train has left the tracks— and it will tend to go in the same direction and back onto the right track if you just leave it be. But if you push it in any way, it can go off the tracks and end up on another track, one you didn’t intend. Typically, you have little power to influence which track your boxcar ends up on (no steering mechanism). So take a “time out” from the bigger decisions, and stick to routine during Moon v/c periods.
If you’re tricky, you can use the Moon v/c period to make plans that you don’t really want to keep.

How do I know when the Moon is void of course?

A good astrological calendar will have that info. My favorite are the Celestial Guide calendars from Quicksilver Productions. You can get a wall calendar, pocket sized calendar, or spiral bound weekly planner. My forecast calendars also include Moon v/c info.
A wonderful reader named Paul Berglund recently sent me an iCal file with Moon Void of Course times. It should work with most calendar programs, and with Google Calendar. Thank you, Paul! You can download it here: MoonVC_2012.ics
I imported the events into a Google calendar, which you can visit or subscribe to:
If you know of any other good tools, let me know and I’ll post links here.

Hi Molly, I really enjoy your blog. I recently gave birth to a baby boy and wanted to have his birth chart read, but I am worried about it because my doctor had to induce me ( I was overdue) plus I ended up having an emergency c-section. Does this mean that he can never get accurate reading now? or did this somehow mess things up for him? I also looked his birth time up in terms of the moon and the c-section actually happened on moon v/c. Will this mean that he’ll be having trouble finding his purpose or goal in life?

Hi Oksana – the moment of the first breath is what counts, not when the child was “supposed” to come.
v/c in a natal chart may be someone who has trouble connecting with their emotions. As many of us do. You can help him with this and be an example for him by taking good care of yourself and your own feelings. It does not mean he will never find his way.

Thanks,

Hi,
For those of you looking for an iCal Void of Course Moon Calendar Subscription for 2011, I’ve gone ahead and published the calendar for January 2011 and I intend to complete it for the rest of 2011 in the next few weeks and then keep it current for the years ahead. I’ve published two calendars, one has an entry for when the moon goes void and then when it re-enters aspect. The second calendar, which I’ve called the Block calendar, has just one entry showing when the moon goes void until it goes back into aspect. At Perfect Cream we use the calendars a lot in scheduling our business and the flow of our day so we use both calendars as they are both useful to us. You may want to use one or the other.
Many thanks,
Nicholas

do you have a version for EST. This seems to be for Pacific time
9 · Molly · 23 February 2011
astrolad, mine works fine in EST. It should adjust to your time zone if the date and time settings on your computer and calendar program are correct.

Thanks again for another strait forward explanation. You are making astrology so much easier for me. Thank you!
13 · Sergio Hegner · 29 May 2011
Thank you for posting the update. However,I guess there’s something wrong because only tells when moon gets VOC but not when it’s on course again.
Hope you can fix this soon, since you calendar rocks!

Is a Void Moon an important thing to consider when planning a wedding?
