I am an Aries with Virgo Rising and Moon. Isn’t this like a contradiction?? Aries is said to be aggressive and impulsive, while Virgo is over critical and conservative. Aries is impatient and Virgo is the perfectionist. Since both my Rising and Moon is Virgo, am I like a Virgo with Aries traits or vice versa?
— ArianVirgo
Hi Arian Virgo—
I am Aries with Libra rising, also two very different signs, so I can relate to your question. And my teacher explained it to me this way: Your chart is like a patchwork quilt. There are no or’s or but’s, only and’s. You are Aries, and you are Virgo.
I agree it’s a contradiction. But most of us have contradictory or conflicting parts of self. It’s part of the human condition! Conflict creates energy, and your art of living is about blending these two sides of yourself in a way that creates energy that supports you, rather than energy that drains you.
Can you not be an impatient perfectionist? Both impulsive and critical? A cranky curmudgeon? And can you not be a detail-oriented, efficient go-getter as well?
I see it this way: your
Aries Sun is your basic character, your heart, your essence, the “model of car” you are, if you will. Some of us are Fords, others are Volkswagens, some are Hondas. Let’s say you’re a Dodge Ram. Your
Virgo Moon and rising are the tools and talents you have in order to keep your big, powerful truck on the road. The Moon is your fuel tank, as it represents the kind of nurturing that enables you to get moving. Virgo needs gentleness, something or someone to serve, and a sense of order. Virgo would be a Honda tank— to run a Ram truck on a Honda tank, you need to fill the tank carefully and often, and keep it maintained meticulously and with discrimination. (Virgo Moon people do tend to have delicate digestive systems, both physically and energetically. You have to be mindful of what you let in.)
In my car metaphor, I guess the ascendant would be your steering wheel. Anyone else have a suggestion?

I am also an Aries (a dodge ram). How do I go about finding out what kind of tank I’m running on and with what sorta steering wheel? Thanks. :)
2 · Molly · 15 July 2006
Hi Juliette. I’ve altered my thinking a bit. I think the Moon as the fuel tank is a good metaphor. But maybe the Sun is your engine, and rising is your chassis.
I just made these up off the cuff. Dodge Ram fits for Aries because they’re big and make a lot of noise, and burn a lot of gas!! And they roar when revved!
Honda fits Virgo because they’re precision engineered, efficient, neat and nice looking. But imagine running a Dodge Ram on a Honda engine? You have to use care!
What are your Moon and Rising signs, Juliette? What do you think would be the equivalent cars? Any ideas?
I have my ideas, but I’m interested in what you think. :)

I think that Arian Virgo’s are great to be frank. Although, they are opposites and can’t stand eachother. An independent perfectionist is rather attractive in most cases. One perfect example is Akira Kurosawa, an arian. He is a perfectionist and accomplished great things. His life went pretty well for a while.

I am also an Aries sun with a Virgo moon, and I have an Aquarius rising. I had looked up what the sun-moon combination meant, and I was not overall displeased with what was said about the positive and negative characteristics listed.
Though, the one thing I must say I was rather displeased with was when it said the Aries sun, Virgo moon combination had a “tendency towards lack of creativity and originality”, that bothered me a great deal because I planning on an artistic career path. I was wondering how my Aquarius rising would affect the creative aspects of my personality?

Well darn it Mike, you are right! I was using the sample charts that came with my software, and it had everything right except the month. Big mistake! I will make sure to double check everything that comes from it from now on.

Well I am Aries with Virgo rising, and it drives me nuts sometimes, lol. I drive a semi, and when I am backing in somewhere, if I don’t hit the dock just right, my Aries side says, oh well, this is good enough. Then my Virgo side says, no, you can do better. And my Virgo side wont shut up, till i am perfectly straight in the dock. Of course due to this, I have gotten many complements on my backing skills. Before I found out my Rising Sign, I had often been called anal. Couldn’t understand why, until I found out my Rising Sign was in Virgo. Explained it all, lol. This is a very confusing mixture for sure. My Aries side says, let just go with it, while my Virgo side says, no lets think about it. And they say Gemini has duel personality, whatever, lol.

Wow, its nice to see so many others like myself! Im a virgo with an aries moon and scorpio rising, and im revved up in a whirl of emotions most of the time. However, i was reading on virgo/aries combinations and ive found that they all basically say that because of the conflict and difference of these two sides – they lead to a person whos cold and demanding, a good leader but unnaproachable, and that “real” emotions are uncommen…which is strange because i am very emotional. Overall, it does not sound like a pleasent person to be. I dont know, i guess im just wondering is this really true? Because that does not sound like a person i want to be like, ya know…?

It’s good to see i’m not the only confused person on the planet. I am an aries with a virgo moon and a libra rising. I have a hard time battling with myself. My aries side is fast and ambitious and always coming up with ideas that excite me and others. However i’m always holding myself back wen things matter, like my relationship. I can’t seem to decide wen to go and wen to stop. I have a need for stability, romance and perfection in everything i do. I get alot of headaches too.

don’t worry! i get call ‘anal retentive’ all the time. i’m aries with virgo moon, mars in capricorn and scorpio rising.. yes, a bit confused still as everyone i know sees me in different light and that confused me further. if you speak to 10 people who know me, no two person will use the same adjective when it comes to describing me. should i give a damn? nahh…
12 · Tim · 2 October 2007
That’s all good and well, but i’m an Aries sun, Vurgo moon and libra rising. And it feels really difficult to deal with all of these facets. Aries say lets go, libra says are we ready, and virgo says are there any pitfalls to look out for. So in most situations, i feel like an analytical, indecisive action man.
13 · Hope · 25 October 2007
Hi! I am Aires Sun, Virgo Moon, Gemini Rising..Whoo Hoo! I couldn’t figure out what was “wrong” with me for the longest time because I would go, “yeah it’s all cool” and THEN get go, “…but, what about that crooked picture on the wall and the crack in the ceiling, and and and….ad infinitum! I mellowed out when I figured out to ask myself 3 questions: A. Doesn’t it really matter? B. Does it matter on a level that is crucial to this situation…risk anal-y-sis, etc..? C. Do you REALLY need to spend this much time analyzing it? Because there some else really cool going on over there…soooo wrap it up, get it done, dot the I and move on girl!
Then after all that, since I have mercury in pisces, I just dream away.
Career options for Aries/Virgo? I’ve done everything from Admin to being a dancer to designing and mfg. camping goods and art. So, for me it’s all about doing things for people in solitude when it comes “productivity” and getting out there and performing when it comes to “connecting” and vis versa depending on what day it is. One of the best things I’ve experienced to help me undertsand the differences in people and all of the amazing combinations of astro chart energies on a “raw” level was participate in Burningman. Much love, clean warm hot tub, a tasty meal and some peaceful visions of lovely nature to all of my fellow Warrior/Poet/Healer Aires/Virgos! Oh yeah, I came up with “car” theme about 5 years ago…. I’m a shiny black ’66 Chevy Convertible with bright Red stripe going down the middle and fat mag wheels on the back. The stereo alternately blows classical and heavy metal with a smidgen of harp music. The is a tough chick (Aires) behind the wheel with lead foot, a navigator in the passenger seat tha keeps turning the map sideways (Merc in Piscies ) and re-routing us to Burningman or Hawaii, a CB radio that reaches outerspace (Gemini rising) and a prom queen in the center of the back seat wearing a crash helmet and a full body safety harness screaming” Uh, hey guys, we’re gonne be LATE!! But wait, there’s someone stranded on the side of the road! (Virgo moon).

very interesting reading…..I am a aries with virgo moon and pisces ascending. I was hoping to find someone else like me in here but alas no!
i have dated and worked with people who had the same birthdays as me and its been a friendly and at the same time fiery affair.
I think my occasional bouts of OCD come from virgo side to?
anyone got any ideas on best sign to date with our complex natures?

Speaking of Aries and Virgo? My sun is in virgo and aries moon. does this makes me kind of the same as the kid your speaking of. So would that make our motives the same? I am libra rising by the way, so the rising sign conflicts with my moon, because they were opposites. Is there a drug to calm my Arian Emotions down lol. This stuff is complicated but fun. :D
17 · Molly · 5 July 2008
Motivation is shown by your Sun sign, so no the motivations would not be the same or even similar. You can read my example of Elvis, Cap with Sag rising, and Jane Fonda, Sag with Cap rising.
Yes, there is a drug for Aries emotions. Two actually— exercise and maturity. :)

I have my sun and moon signs in Cancer, with my rising sign Virgo. Next year is supposed to be fantastic for Virgos. I hope I get some of that in my life, and not the possibly unfulfilled promises of Cancer’s aspects for next year. Some of Cancer’s 2009 aspects sound frightening on some websites.

OMG! I can totally relate to what folks are saying. I’m an Aries with a Capricorn moon and Virgo rising and all too familiar with the crazy back and forth battles inside my head. LOL! I’ve also noticed that people see me differently, it’s like the Aries comes out more for some people and the Virgo for others. I love it all. The combination makes me strong and confident in my decisions. And thanks to the Virgo rising…it also make me annoyingly right most of the time…lol ;-)

I’m an Aries with Virgo rising and I’ve finally realized that it’s a great combination. The way that I approach life (Virgo rising)is efficient, and this efficiency clears out all of the clutter so that my Aries Sun can experience life in the most direct way as possible.
An example:
Nearly everything I own that is not in constant use is stored in a clear plastic box-how very Virgoan of me! But, this works wonders for my Aries Sun because instead of throwing a tantrum because I can’t find X and I don’t want to waste any more time looking for X, I know exactly where it is-I don’t have to search for it. Taking care of the details ahead of time helps my life run smoothly and gets me where I want to go as quickly as possible (an Arien imperative!)
Another example:
I love to take care of my health. Because I am healthy and rarely get sick I never have down-time, I always have the energy to do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

I have a predominance of cardinal fire in my chart, Aries sun, moon, mercury, And venus. Also born the afternoon of april 19th placing me on the cusp taurus. Yes i feel my virgo rising…. but my energy is tainted by anger and frustration. How do i balance such contradictions? The fire of aries burns bright these days with all four planets returning to my natal positions. Then theres the retrogrades, my life has been destruction over and over the past week. Im sure it doesnt help having a sun opposition to pluto in my natal chart. My optimism is good at the moment, but i know it wont last forever……Cody James Winston Robinson

I can so relate to the pain felt by others in terms of having a contradictory natal chart … I too am an Aries sun with Virgo Rising. I find it extremely difficult to switch off the Virgo Rising in mental overdrive and just be the Aries sun! Once when someone asked me what my chart was, when they found out I had Virgo Rising they laughed in my face and said, “how is that working out for you?!”. I think it helps to teach the Virgo to be our friend/servant, not the enemy. Otherwise we can just analyze our lives away!

I am a virgo with moon in aries and cancer rising lolz. Life seems so tough sometimes. It’s like a part of me wants to do something desperately and the other part of me completely ridicules and opposes that part. It’s always the same cycle: My Aries moon wants to do something different, exciting and dangerous, and my sun and mars in virgo keep on finding faults with what I want to do. My mercury in Libra keeps rocking back and forth between my two decisions, being unable to decide what to do. Yes, my mercury is also in opposition to my moon and my cancer rising makes me kinda timid and my courageous moon resents it. I am quite messed up LOLZ. Anyway, it was nice hearing that other people are going through similar stuff.

Hi VirgoGal,
I know what it’s like to feel like you have multiple personalities that are trying to undermine each other. And I know what it’s like to feel torn between Aries and Virgo. (I have Sun in Aries in the 6th house)
Sometimes I picture these different characteristics of myself sitting at a conference table, like all different entities, all with faces and names… and I get to choose who gets to “hold the mike.” So my generous and playful side comes out when I am with a trusted friend, and my more cautious, careful side comes out when I need to be more careful, where my critical nature is an asset rather than a pain in the butt. So for me, it’s about managing these different characteristics I have so that they are gifts instead of liabilities. I don’t always succeed. Sometimes I fail miserably. But I have gotten better over time.
You made a really good analysis of these different parts of self working against each other. Why don’t you try writing an analysis of these parts still being themselves, but to you benefit rather than your detriment. That gives you a goal to work toward.

Aries with Virgo rising female here. used to feel more torn between the two, but w/ age have started to find the point of balance. definitely have the playful, childlike, independent Aries thing…but in my emotional and personal affairs, i am very orderly. it takes me awhile to truly warm up and open up to people. like Michelle referenced above, my Aries part has learned to enjoy some Virgo qualities. i have learned to majorly declutter and clean out stuff and now my Aries side doesn’t have as much to bother with. used correctly, Virgo order can keep life simple for Aries.

Hi everyone! This article is very interesting. I am an Aries girl, with Ascendant in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus. I find my personality to be extremely extreme. I see this with the Aries Sun/Scorpio Ascendant combination. I find that I have the potential to do a lot because of my immense passion and feeling, however also feeling frustrated because I am also very slow moving. I always have the desire to transform, and I feel things on a very deep, powerful level, that borders the line of dangerous.
The problem is, everyone else seems to see this calm, pleasant, outgoing person. This seems to come from both the Scorpio Rising/Taurus Moon combination. I have a hard time expressing to others how I feel-hence, I feel ALOT of emotions, but have a hard time verbally telling others without appearing angry or crying super hard. So a defense mechanism for appearing vulnerable is to internalize an bottle in my emotions. Then, people will usually see a smile on my face. It is really NOT a fake smile like one would presume. But I tend to always think, “oh it’s not so bad,” not realizing the depth of my problems (an Aries quality), and then internalizing it/forgetting about it on the surface).
I find my communication to be very bad with people, causing ALOT of trouble with misunderstandings, that have messed with my ego for the past couple of years. A lot of this is not being able to connect my thoughts with my feelings. Also I always am sensitive in my relationships so something someone says, I feel in another way entirely, and sometimes feel like I am imagining things. However, with such intense emotion, it feels so real. I find myself prone to depression because my communication is so off, not just with people, but with myself. I find myself talking a lot, but not actually accomplishing. I find myself with a lot of great ideas, but also having a fear of success because I feel like i have already experienced it.
I find my Aries Sun making me a very confident person. However, I find myself overconfident. I sometimes feel deep down I am better than people because I know a lot of things I can do better. This causes me to appear unrelatable and not creating those intimate relationships with people I desire. I have a big problem with following through, impulsive and addictive behaviors. I have been called childlike by both family and frinds.
I have also been known for focusing TOO much on others and not enough on myself. For example, I will go through great lengths to listen to other people, make time for others, but I do not do the same for myself. Then I find myself in major frustration because I see other people progressing, changing, and leaving me not feeling the same. I cause the ultimate disrespect for myself because of my actions.
I find myself yearning for emotional ties with people the most. I find an uncontrollable jealous personality that I have to constantly keep in check. I feel at best when I am the leader and that I am needed for things.
They say the Moon sign relates to how I perceive my mother. I feel that I have an overall bad relationship with my mother. She is there for me and has never neglected us, but I often feel extremely irritated with her when she speaks. I feel she does not even try to understand me on an emotional level, she just yells at me or brushes me off. I have always viewed her as harshly strict. It is just a perception though. My brother knows she is strict, but views her much differently. He has a Moon in Gemini. They get along very well.
There is more I want to say, but I know I will keep on talking forever. If it helps, my Mercury is in Pisces, Venus in Pisces, and Mars in Taurus. MOLLY, if you have any feedback on my introspection of my combinations, I would like to know… Thank you :)
