Neptune square Venus and the Thursday 13
Posted under astrology
I might as well tell you, dear readers, that Neptune is currently square my Venus, and brother Neptune does not move fast. If you're an astrology buff, you know that Saturn is opposite Neptune this month. And if you're really buffy, then you have already figured out that this means Saturn is currently square my Venus as well.
Anyone with planets around 20 degrees in fixed signs is experiencing this mash-up strongly right about now. If this is you, feel free to show me some love in the comments. We can be space cadets together. And if you have been through transit Neptune square Venus, tell me about it. Is it as bad as they say? Did your finances and love life go to hell in a handbasket? Or did you make the most of it? What do you know now that you wish you had known then?
The books tell you that Neptune square Venus makes you unrealistic about relationships and prone to all kinds of romantic delusions. And very creative to boot.
I was surfing around in true Neptunian fashion, in the style of my Leo Moon: surfing blogs that link to me. Naturally, they are all excellent blogs. I was reading CraZedMoM's when I found the "Thursday 13."

Thirteen Things about Molly 1. First, a confession: Today is not Thursday, it's Sunday. I'm a rule breaker. I feel relatively unconcerned about this, because I'm sporadic about this, and to me, asynchronous blogging is better than no blogging at all. I don't know yet if I'll do this every week. 2. Now I'll let you know how the Neptune transit is going. Neptune has a connection with the endocrine system, and Neptune transits are associated with hormonal imbalance. I had been really foggy and out of sorts all week. The other night, I had a splitting headache, completely forgot about a conference call I was supposed to be on, and went to bed feeling agitated and stupid. Early in the morning, I kept waking up, too hot under the covers. Then too cold without the covers. Covers on, covers off. Over and over. I thought, is this hormonal, am I having hot flashes? That's unlikely, I'm only 34! I took some motherwort, and sure enough, the hot flashes, or whatever it was, subsided, and I went back to sleep. 3. I wanted to share a funny story that happened last night, but John thought it was too personal. 4. I use herbal remedies for almost everything. The only drug I take is Alleve. 5. I'm taking a course, learning to be a stock trader. I have been doing practice trades with fake (Neptune) money (Venus) for a couple of weeks. Real money trading only begins after a year of practicing. When a trade doesn't work out, I'm tempted to cheat (Neptune) and erase it from my fake money ledger as if it never happened. It comes from me not wanting to face up to making a mistake. If I did that, people would know I'm not perfect. No one can know!!! 6. I updated a lot of websites last week to help keep out the naughty comment spammers who like to post links to their porno sites, and lots of them. That's why you have to type in the text from a picture if you want to comment now. 7. I had my teeth cleaned on Friday. I dread having my teeth cleaned. 8. I am usually pretty chatty with my dental hygenist (as much as one can be while getting one's teeth scraped), but Friday I wasn't up to it. 9. Last night for dinner, we made Parmesan Chicken from Simply Recipes. I think I should have cooked it longer, but it was still pretty yummy. Simply Recipes is by far my favorite cooking site. Check it out! 10. I think you should visit Lynn Hayes if you don't know her. She is one of my favorite astrology bloggers. 11. I am knitting an unusual looking but very warm hat. It's the Maltese Fisherman's hat from Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitter's Almanac. While looking for a picture to share, I found the Zimmermaniacs blog. Awesome! 12. I was bitchy to a good friend last week when my head was aching. I know she understands, but I still feel badly about it. 13. I have been jogging 2-3 times a week since the second week of January. I hate jogging, but I love how I feel afterwards. My knees have been aching lately when I jog. I told the guy at the running shop about it and told me it was probably "rust" from being inactive for so many years. I was surprised when my superstar physical therapist sister agreed. Go Molly! Run Molly Run!
Good luck with that transit, babe. Feel free to bitch at me any time! I have enough Neptune crap that I reckon I can sympathize. Did I say sympathize? I meant empathize.
Hugs from Your Uncle!!

hopes this isn’t considered spamSaturn is actually conjunct to my natal Venus (which was conjuncted to Mars when I was born), which means Neptune is opposite to all of these for me in my 12th house. It doesn’t seem so bad, it’s kind of a learning experience, Saturn is removing the fog & showing us the truth. It sounds like for you though you’re probably having problems with love & social situations & are probably being forced to approach things in a way you’re not comfortable with. My sympathies lie with you.
I have a question though: will you make a page about the asteroids? I’ve been doing observations & I think Vesta is the true ruler of Virgo.
4 · Molly · 6 February 2007
Thanks Mike. My love life is going well, actually. I’m in a stable relationship, and we are as close as ever. I just worry. This is the first pass, and I just worry about experiencing loss with Neptune.
I wish I had more to say about the asteroids, but I just don’t know them that well. I’ll tell you though, I think Virgo’s true ruler may be Chiron. Do you have Demetra George’s book, Asteroid Goddesses?
(The spam test just makes sure you’re a real human being. I was getting a lot of messages posted by “bots” with links to bad websites. Your comment definitely is not spam.)

p.s. Yes, Elsa, that’s my chicken scratch! And Hannah, thanks for the empathy and encouragement!!

Why, thanks, I’m glad I could help. Incidentally, I’ve recently downloaded a freeware called Timaeus that offers insight on transiting planets. Because this is a freeware that anyone could download, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with me posting this (I understand the ‘intellectual properties’ thing, the reason you mention you ask permission when using other people’s texts). All in all, I seemed to’ve been close in my interpretation:
“Transiting Saturn is square your natal Venus. This is often a period of cooling off in your relationships. If you are younger, you may feel like you are very unpopular now, with few invitations to parties. You may be stuck with a crowd that you do not want to have associations with, but feel that you must because of peer pressure. If you’re older, this is a period of examination during which you seek to make your relationships more relevant to who you are as a person. Often you find yourself tied up to social obligations that you find onerous and would rather be free of. In some cases, important relationships like a marriage may break up and you may feel lonely and isolated. Financially you may need to be conservative because of austere circumstances.
If [Venus is] lord of the 2nd [house (from your diagram)], financial conservatism prevails over self indulgence. You may be in austere circumstances at present. It is hard not to feel deprived.”
“Transiting Neptune is square your natal Venus. Romance could prove upsettingly full of illusions. Sometimes this transit stimulates your desire to help the less fortunate. The problem is that often the people who you are coming into contact with now are parasites who are only interested in taking advantage of your generosity. Relationship co-dependencies are common, and lack of proper boundaries or invasion of personal space is more likely. In financial dealings you are not likely to get what you pay for now unless you are extremely vigilant about scrutinizing the value of your purchases. Swindlers may be more commonplace. Your budget is likely to be either non-existent or chaotic. Artists and musicians usually find this period to be creatively fruitful.
If [Venus is] lord of the 2nd, you may not be very realistic about finances now. Be careful about spending. You may be the mark for a con artist if you’re not careful.”

Thanks again, Mike. Timaeus is a good little piece of software that anyone can download at Zodiac x-files. (Just giving Curt a little plug.) If I remember right, it’s the one that also gives you a little jingle whenever a planet comes over the ascendant, and when the planetary hour changes. But I use a Mac most of the time, and we Mac nerds are not as blessed with all the wonderful little astrology programs available for Windows.
Venus actually rules my ascendant and 8th house. I pretty much know the book interpretations. I’m more interested in seeing how it plays out for people in real life. Elsa, who is a prolific blogger and writer, sent me a wonderful story about her Neptune square Venus transit. If I knew where it was online, I’d link to it. Elsa, if you’re reading, is your pig story available online?
For me, the biggest manifestation thus far has been in my mind and body. My mind has been foggy, and my body chemistry has been fluctuating. I don’t think I’m being unrealistic about people, but we’ll see what happens in May during the retrograde Neptune pass, after Saturn has moved on. I think the real guts of any transit happen during the 2nd pass anyway.

Hiya Molly. I’m showing you some luvvy love in your comments. My natal ME is 20AQU54 (in 3rd). Blerughoobooflibberoh!look!clouds!walls!..

My venus is 17 degree in Scorpio, 1:st house, so the exact square past for me. I would say go for the unrealistic matters, drift away. I saw A LOT OF VIDEOS, and I mean a lot! Especially romanic comedies, which made me cry and laugh and forget about the real world!
To me it wasn’t any scary, but I experienced Pluto squared my natal Pluto, and Neptune conjunct my natal Mars, in the period before, so I already lost people, and had suffered from NO ENERGY WHAT SO EVER!
I would say, dream away and drift as much as possible, but be conservative with using money. I mean spend time on dreaming, and do not realise any of the dreams! It can be real fascinating! Do not be afraid, everything does not have to be in the “real” world! But maybe it was easier for me, I got both Venus and Neptune in 1:st house so I am used to dream, and am maybe quite good at it. You will be too, if you give it a chance!
Good Luck!
Ps. About the saturn square Venus at the same time, I am not so sure.. But in my progressed chart my Venus marched in to Capricorn. What happened to me, is that my husband changed job, from a work in science to a serious work in society. We moved, according to that. We are both in a good condition, but we lost all our social sphere, and have not got any new friends, so the contacts can really drift away. I cried of course. But I learned things about my self, I never had learned without this experience, so I am not unhappy, it was/is just a bit tough, before I got/get used to it! Baybe this will not at all happen to you, of course! Just celebrate what ever comes to you, and see what you can learn from it, that is my little advice!
For the “moment” I have Pluto conjunct my natal Mercury, so I write heavy stuff, hope this wasn’t too heavy for you! Bye,

Today (Thursday 2/8/07) is the exact transit Sat. sq. Venus: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Also have Nept. approaching exact square to venus starting end of month and essentially in orb right to the end of the summer. I am single and not having trouble attracting my target market, there is no abscense of love “activity” but it’s still a heavy time because I can not get any satisfaction from my experiences!
11 · Molly · 8 February 2007
Thanks, Rick!
My Saturn square Venus will be exact on Feb. 21. Happy Valentine’s indeed!
12 · Regina · 10 February 2007
Hi Molly – I’m having Neptune transiting my natal sun & venus. (Sun at 16 degrees and Venus at 19 degrees Aquarius.) And Saturn is opposing the whole thing! Sigh. Finances are in complete chaos – restructuring and figuring out what’s important and real and what isn’t. (Saturn is transiting through my 2nd house.)
And love life? What’s that? Yeah – totally nonexistant. And whatever opportunities for romance that do come up usually disappear in a very wishy-washy way or are totally confusing or just stall and never get off the ground. Ships passing in the night kind of thing. I have totally given up on romance until this current astrological business starts to let up.
It hasn’t been easy at all… but I know that everything will be better at the other end as long as I work with Neptune & Saturn, not fight them. (It’s like being locked in a room with 2 people you don’t get along with and being told: now none of you are getting out of here until you learn to work together!)
13 · Molly · 10 February 2007
Gin!! Nice to see you and your Neptunized Mercury!
Sara, thank you for posting. I have Mars conjunct Saturn and opposite Neptune in my natal, so I can certainly relate to lacking energy at times. And I can definitely relate to the video watching as well. If I could spend the whole transit on the couch knitting and watching TV and movies*.. let’s just say that sounds pretty good.
Regina, I appreciate your take, and I hope things look up for you soon!
*hypothetically speaking, if I wouldn’t be getting fat or having muscles atrophy, or any of the other terrible things that go wrong when you’re sedentary.

Saturn square my Venus passed a few days ago, and I have to say, there were some challenges in relationships. There was some static. I became more focused on the give-and-take in relationships, especially where I have been doing more of the taking than the giving. John, for example, does more housework than I do. Especially since I have been going through this tiredness phase. So I am working on shaping my routine to include more housework. Little things. After breakfast, for example, doing a chore like sweeping or taking out the garbage before starting on work.
And I have starting exercising. Not much, but I know it feeds me, it raises my energy level, and I need it. So I have to do it, even though there are times I don’t wanna. Saturn.
I have not felt unpopular or peer pressured.
Mike, you posted:
I may be under the influence of Neptune, but I think my existing relationships are sufficiently relevant, that's not really an issue. It has been more about me becoming more responsible in my relationships. I am making long-term changes and commitments. Not formal commitments. I’m not getting married or signing contracts. But I am making a commitment to exercise, a commitment to do more housework, eat healthier, stick to my budget so I can fulfill my obligations, be a better partner, build the strength of my relationships. Venus rules money, and I have had a lot of expenses this month. But this time has not been nearly as yucky as I thought it might be.
Yes, that's definitely true.
Not so much. But I don’t go out that much to begin with. The times when I have socialized with people, it has been very satisfying. Work has been busy, and my clients have been great. John and I started the Master Gardener program in January, and I am really liking the people. I’m seeing a lot of the Saturn-Venus “socializing via work and finding enjoyment in Saturnian pursuits” idea. My friend CM has Saturn in the 5th in his natal chart, and describes a similar idea.
