I do get some very good questions about this transit. Rita wrote:
Hello there… I too have Saturn hitting my Pluto in the 11th on my natal and the 12th on a relocation chart. In addition, I’ve got transiting Pluto conjunct my natal mars in the 3rd natal and 4th relo. Talk about stress? Scorpio rules my 2nd! and things are getting “scary” to say the least. To complicate things even more, transiting mars is opposing my natal Pluto and squares natal Saturn in the 2nd. Am I doomed to be homeless and penniless? Things talk about a “life structure change” but I haven’t got a clue on what to change. I can’t seem to get out from under the cloud of this negativity and am approaching a desire to end it all because there’s some things I just can’t-won’t do and homeless is one of them. I’ve been applying for jobs for the last decade with not much success. I already had to sell my house after filing bankruptcy last year. Now I’m in a tiny rent house and am currently behind with rent, utilities, etc. My landlord is not happy and has twice put an “eviction” notice on my doorstep. I paid him before, but the 1st is coming fast. Any thoughts, insights, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.
Rita,

I hope you weren’t kidding when you said you wanted my thoughts. Because I’m going to tell you what I think, even though it might not be what you want to hear.
I don’t mean to be an asshole by saying this, but it’s hard for me to believe that you are unemployable.
The 2nd house is your resources, and Saturn conjunct your 2nd house ruler, and your 2nd house ruler conjunct Mars, compels you to take action, and draw on your resources. All of them, not just the ones that are applicable to your chosen field. You can get through this, but I think you might have to change your approach. It’s clear from your note that you’re intelligent and articulate. Surely there is a way for a smart cookie like you to come up with the money to cover your basic needs. Surely there are people who need your skills.
I do not think you are doomed at all. To be perfectly honest, I sense from your comment that the “cloud of negativity” you’re under is one you have created yourself. It may have served a protective purpose at a time in your life when you were more vulnerable, but now it is keeping you from opening your mind and facing your fears. And you need to face those fears now, in order to break out of this cycle. It’s difficult, I know.
The good news is, the negativity is yours. That means you are in control. You can reverse this downward spiral you’re in— and replace the thoughts, beliefs and attitudes that drain you, with ones that support and uplift you. The truth is, you are better than this. You are a powerhouse. You have a lot to give, and you need to be using that energy right now. If you don’t have a job to go to, volunteer somewhere until you do. Giving your time and energy to a cause will put you in a much better frame of mind. It’s time to break through, shed that skin and start a new chapter in your life. That’s what transits of and to Pluto are all about.
We astrologers have a saying: use the energy, or it will use you. It is far better to be the agent of change than the victim of change.
I’m rooting for you, Rita. Good luck.

Rita,
In my own natal chart, Saturn in Leo is hitting my fixed T-Sqaure including Sun, Pluto in Leo in 11th, squaring both Mars in Scorpio in the 2nd and Jupiter in Taurus in the 8th. Needless to say, my finances for the last six months have been in dumpster!
Like you, I’m living day to day, but things have been beginning to change. Why? I am starting to use the “Law of Attraction.” And then I am starting to have an Attitude of Gratitude. Every night before I go asleep, I count my blessings. I may not have the best house in the world, but I have a house. I might have to watch my food budget, but I have food to eat. I might not have the best car, but I have a car to get me to work. You get the idea. What you concentrate expands.
This is the second time Saturn has conjunct my Pluto, and yes the first time, my finances weren’t the best. But you know something? They got better.
Use this time to find what is really of value to you. You are learning a major life lesson as I am again.
I’m rooting for you.
Peace,
Helen

Hooray! Helen's rooting for you too, Rita. The voice of experience.
I keep hearing things about a movie about the law of attraction, called “the Secret.”
Have you seen it, Helen? Is this it? Is it worth the $5?

I can relate! Some very good ideas here to cope with Saturn on Pluto. Mine is angular, in the 7th house, and Pluto has made two passes and will soon make a third and final pass direct over my natal Pluto. My natal Pluto is square merc/Venus and sextile Mars, Moon, Jupiter and Neptune, so it’s a transit I am well aware is happening! This has been a life changing year for me with a major change of residence to a place I hope to live for the rest of my life, if I’m so lucky.
Gratitude does help and being thankful is the best place for our energy. There was a love poem, by someone I read long ago. It said, “Thank you, Whatever comes.” I have always remembered that, thinking what a great way to feel.
Best wishes to all,
Paula

Hi Molly,
Indeed, you hit the correct website for watching the Secret. It is well worth the $5. But check your local Unity churchs because they often have free showings of the movie.
The movie was a beginning for me, but I was so fortunate to go farther. There is also a great book out there called “Ask and It is Given” by Ester and Jerry Hicks. At a local Unity church I have joined a support group based both on the movie and the book. It is making a great difference in my life!
Again, touching on Astrology, I have been given a second change to reexamine what I truly value. During this transit I have come to realize the following:
1. I don’t need credit cards to survivie. If fact, I have just come off a successful negotiation to pay off one of my credit cards, and I cut the card up and put it in the
trash! (8th house)
2. What I value most in my life is my God, and my wonderful resource of creative writing that was gvien to me. That my ideas bring encouragement and happiest to people around me. (2nd house)
3. That I have many people support me. That more people support me than are againest me. That my goals, dreams, and ambitions can come true. (11 house)
This part of the whole Saturn in Leo tranist has been the most challenging part for me. Don’t forget that it passed once last year, went RX, and now is getting ready to go direct.
When I look back on this period of my life, it might be the most rewarding period of my life.
Peace,
Helen

Thanks, Helen. Thank you too, Paula.

I watched “The Secret” and although I think the principle (mostly) makes sense, I think it’s simplified, and it’s presented in a very materialistic way. My sister and I watched it in some spots with horror. It was very cheesily dramatic and they repeated the same things over and over…but if you can overlook that you might be able to glean something from it.
p.s. I don’t find the Secret to be that intriguing or weird. I think most people know it or apply it in some way.

Thanks Hannah.. Is this the same movie/idea/book/whatever that Oprah has been talking up? I don’t watch Oprah, I have just been hearing about it.

Yeah, that’s one and the same, babyyy.
It’s the “like attracts like” idea.
Ok here’s the basic idea so you don’t even need to watch the dang video:
Whatever you think of, that’s what kind of energy/life you will create.
If you think negatively, you get negative things back.
Conversely, if you think positively and anticipate flow then you receive.
Of course, I found this to be rather simplistic. I do believe in the power of intention.
Thoughts, feelings, actions all in alignment will make almost anything you could want to manifest—buuuut…I think they hype it up a lot.
Just my opinion.
Your Uncle-Who-Doesn’t-Think-Life-Can-Be-Summed-Up-In-A-Highly-Popular-Concept-As-Much-As-We-Might-Wish-It-Could -BE!
p.s. I think the idea of watching your thoughts and feelings and how you take action on those things is a decent concept, but there are other forces at work if you ask me…

Molly,
My basic idea of the Secret is that it is old wine in a new bottle. If you are familar with Unity teachings then you are familar with the teachings of The Secret. I have to admire the marketing that was used to promote The Secret. Sheer Genius.
But just because it teaches an old concept doesn’t mean that it has no value. I have known about The Course In Miracles for years, but it doesn’t speak to me. Just because it doesn’t speak to me, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have value.
As in the post above, I am working with the Book, Ask and It is Given. This book says the same thing but with more detail.
Rita is a prime example. She feels that her life is crap
and so it is. Once she changes her mindset and with a little patience, her life will improve. It is a given.
My advice to you, Molly, is go ahead and watch it. Judge for your self.
Peace,
Helen

By the way…I think gratitude lists are a great idea.
I guess my disagreement with The Secret is that I feel that the types of lessons we get and the experiences we have are a bit more organic and specific to us that we can’t just change them by the way we think. We have to go through them and let them change us. I think the way the Secret was presented sort of gave you the idea that ‘If you think this certain way, a lot of your issues or the sorts of situations you are in will vaporize’.. or ‘only people who think negatively attract negative events’. I don’t think this is true. I know a lot of very positive people or even saint-like people who have had horrific things happen to them. Unthinkable things…so perhaps nothing really changes in their life but the way they see their life. They might have debt and be paraplegic, but their attitude is different.
I think life is so very unpredictable—even if you believe in fate and God and everything. No one (yet) has been able to come up with a true formula for living life. I guess going with the flow is helpful considering some of the crazy things that we can go through!
Indeed, it’s how we use this energy that is most important.
Sorry for rambling…
Good Luck Helen and Rita
p.s. I like the concept of mixing and matching advice from different sources—so I think it’s great to do what speaks to you. One of my beliefs is that we all have different religions or non-religions for a reason. We’re all drawn to different things for a reason. So Zen Buddhism may work for one person, secular humanism may work for another—Christianity may work for yet another.

Wow.. lively discussion.
Hannah, your comment reminds me of an affirmation we worked with in Melissa’s group: “It’s not the form, it’s how you meet it.” Stuff happens, it’s how you deal with it that counts.
I don’t think affirmations like “I have lots and lots of money” work. I know that counting your blessings works, and that feelings of gratitude attract abundance and generate goodwill.
Perceiving yourself as a victim drains away energy and power faster than anything else I have seen. So I think that’s the most important thing to work on when you’re feeling stuck.
So, when I heard about the Secret, I thought, wow, this is on Oprah, that’s good. Awareness is growing. The more people changing their attitudes, believing in themselves and in goodness and love, the better the world will be. But I never felt like I needed to see it.
But now I think I might see it, if only to be able to recommend it (or not) with confidence. And maybe I’ll even find some good nuggets to work with.
I do think you have to be wise about these ideas. It’s easy to go overboard with them. I used to do some work with a “healing center” in Richmond, and the vibe there was almost religious about the “love and light” thing. To the point that you didn’t feel that your so-called negative emotions were acceptable. And you got the sense that some of the healers working there— massage therapists, reiki masters, etc. were repressing some deep stuff. And indeed, I heard later that it eventually exploded into junior-high drama, before the center closed.
I think yucky feelings are every bit as important as other feelings. The trick is not to fall into a habit of blaming others or feeling like a victim. “It’s not the form, it’s how you meet it.”
