The 3 Modes: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable

Most people know about the four elements— fire, earth, air, and water. However, far fewer people know about the three modes, even though they are just as important to know if you want to read charts.

Pisces

Pisces is the mutable water sign. Water is the most emotional element, and mutable is the most adaptable modality. Pisces are very sensitive to energy and vibes, and tend to absorb the emotional atmosphere around them.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign, typically easygoing and able to adapt to changing moods and circumstances.

Virgo

Virgo is the mutable earth sign. Mutable signs are the most flexible and adaptable. Earth signs are the most utilitarian and practical. Therefore, Virgo has a talent for seeing what needs to be done, and doing it. They are very detail-oriented, and good at jobs that require multitasking.

Gemini

Gemini is the mutable air sign. Mutable signs are the most flexible. Air represents mental and social energy. Geminis have an innate curiosity and mental flexibility which allows them to learn new words and absorb new ideas quickly. They also tend to pick up foreign languages easily.
